Founded in 1958
Adega de Almeirim through decades of history
In the heart of Ribatejo, in 1958, was born the Adega de Almeirim - the largest winery cooperative in Portugal. With 1,200 hectares of vineyard, it produces 20 million liters of wine annually, winning the position of biggest producer in the country.
It currently counts with the collaboration of around 170 members regularly accompanied by the best technicians who give a greater control on the vineyards and its raw material. With a very demanding criteria and no margin for waste, the success of Adega de Almeirim wine depends on the fundamental duo between the producing members and the oenologists, who unite to create the best wines produced in Ribatejo soil.
Instalations
Always looking forward, Adega de Almeirim went through a significant modernization process that marked an unprecedented investment in equipment - filling lines that increased production capacity, pneumatic presses, vacuum filters, among others, to improve the quality to meet your demand.
The old cement tanks (still in the winery) gave way to stainless steel vats, refrigeration systems, and French and American oak barrels that provide wine better aging. The production capacity of medium and high-end wines has sustainability in the most innovative production processes. All wines are fermented at the best fermentation temperatures controlled by a modern cold chain. The winery also has a fully equipped laboratory run by a team of highly qualified winemakers and engineers.

The responsibility of each department does not end in itself, being normal the subdivision between the various technicians, especially in the harvest season which the top priority is focused on the reception of more than 20 million kilos of grapes and its meticulous process.
The technicians always work in articulation and tuned to a common goal: to make the best wine, at the lowest cost, with the maximum safety and respecting all applicable food safety requirements, including statutory and regulatory requirements. The success of the Adega de Almeirim is the mirror of the work, support and collaboration between all workers, experts and directors, which positively raise the region and the people of Almeirim. It is with pride that our team remains over the years united and determined to carry out a work of excellence, always with the will to want to do more and better.
